Calming Dental Fears

We want all of our young patients to grow up without the fear of dental treatments. Many of our parents have told us that we are achieving this goal! Children love to visit us, and we can help to make it easy for you and your kids too!

Choosing Your Child’s Dentist is Like Choosing Their Pediatrician

We emphasize how important it is to instill good habits early in children. Their teeth are more susceptible to cavities than an adult’s due to several factors. Children often do not brush well without supervision. We let parents know how important it is to oversee their children’s daily dental care. This will let them develop proper dental habits, which ensures better cleaning. Young kids tend to eat throughout the day. This prolongs their exposure to the acids produced from foods, which can cause more cavities more easily. If a tooth is not as clean as it should be, additional acid will increase the rate that a cavity develops. But when poor dietary choices and improper hygiene habits are identified, they can be corrected to help teeth and gums stay healthy. We also offer a fluoride varnish that can be applied to mineralize teeth. It has been proven to significantly reduce the chance of cavities.

Preventing Child Tooth Decay – the Easy Way!

Sometimes the best efforts to clean teeth don’t reach the deep grooves of the back teeth. When acids cling to the surface and bacteria build up, plaque will begin to form and decay will follow. Any amount of decay requires a restoration, either a filling or crown depending on the extent of the damage. There is a way to prevent all this from happening. An application of dental sealants is the way to go!

This is the easy treatment:

  1. After each tooth has been cleaned and sterilized, a thin application of the sealant is applied to the surface of all teeth. It is transparent and totally invisible.
  2. A curing light is applied to bond the sealant to the teeth.

And that’s it! It only takes a few minutes and there is no pain. There are also no shots or drills and no tooth removal. It is safe, effective, and one of the best prevention techniques for children and adolescents to maintain their healthy, natural teeth.
